New Build Home in Essex
Enhancing A Beautiful New Build Home in Essex

“I plan to use Mumford & Wood again in the future, not just for projects, but also for the extension at my own house.”
The Project
As an experienced developer of premium single-property builds, Will Marquez recently completed and sold a stunning new family home set in the peaceful Essex countryside.
“We acquired the plot at the start of 2021 and immediately got underway. The build was completed by September that same year, which was a great result. Everything moved smoothly and efficiently,” Will shares.
A long-time advocate of timber windows and doors, Will sought a new supplier for this project. After researching extensively online, he discovered Mumford & Wood.
“I’ve always used timber but hadn’t worked with Mumford & Wood before,” he explains. “One of their team visited the site, walked me through the options in detail, and never rushed or pushed the process. I really valued that personal approach, and it gave me full confidence to go ahead.”
This collaborative build was sold off-plan, with the homeowners working closely with Will throughout the process to tailor every element to their vision. In addition to the main residence, the plot also includes a detached garage and annexe.
All timber products were specified in the elegant shade of Pebble Grey, complementing the render beautifully. “I’m particularly pleased with how well the windows suit the overall look of the property,” adds Will.
The project was a success on every level. “We’re so happy with the windows and doors,” say the homeowners. “The Bifolds open effortlessly and really allow us to enjoy the garden to its fullest.”
Reflecting on the experience, Will adds:
“I’ve been impressed not only by the quality of Mumford & Wood’s products but also by the way they operate as a company—from the first interaction through to the aftercare. I’ll definitely be using them again.”
Flush Casement Windows
Flush casement windows in a Pebble Grey finish were specified across both the main house and annexe. Featuring horizontal astragal glazing bars, they offer a timeless yet refined aesthetic in keeping with the home’s character.
Entrance Door
The Entrance is framed by a striking Hadleigh-style timber door with a fully glazed sidelight that fills the hallway with natural light. An 18mm astragal glazing bar border adds subtle architectural detail, creating an inviting and well-proportioned focal point beneath the porch canopy.
French Doors
In the master bedroom, classic timber French doors open outward onto a private balcony—an elegant touch approved by both the new owners and their cat, who has claimed the space as its favourite sun spot.
Bifold Doors
To maximise indoor-outdoor living, three sets of timber Bifold doors were installed in the kitchen, dining and lounge areas. Easy to operate and beautifully engineered, they open the home onto the patio and garden, creating the perfect space for entertaining.
