Cambridgeshire Pub Converted Into Inviting Family Residences
Long-time residents of a Cambridgeshire village, Mr and Mrs Wright had always admired the character and potential of a former local pub. So, when the property came to market, they seized the opportunity to turn it into their dream family home.

“We’re really, very impressed with the new windows—they fitted in seamlessly!”
The Project
Long-time residents of a Cambridgeshire village, Mr and Mrs Wright had always admired the character and potential of a former local pub. So, when the property came to market, they seized the opportunity to turn it into their dream family home.
"We used to live just a few doors down," Mr Wright explains. "We'd always seen what this place could become, so when it became available, we knew the timing was right."
At the point of purchase, the building was in serious disrepair, prompting a full-scale, 18-month renovation and extension project. Among the key upgrades were the transformation of an old double garage into a spacious kitchen and the addition of a rendered front façade, which blends beautifully with the painted brickwork across the rest of the property.
The Wrights were introduced to Mumford & Wood through trusted contacts Carlo Infanti and Paul Duncan - property professionals who had previously specified the brand on their own projects.
"Both Carlo and Paul spoke highly of the quality and craftsmanship of Mumford & Wood products," says Mrs Wright. "That gave us the confidence we needed, and now, having lived with the windows ourselves, we fully agree."
"I especially love that the upper sashes also lower; we've never had windows that do that before, and it's made a huge difference to airflow around the house."
While some finishing touches are still underway, the major structural work is complete, and the family is now enjoying their new home.
"The support at Mumford & Wood made the experience as smooth and stress-free as possible."
Sash Windows
Classic Sash windows, including striking triple-sash configurations, were installed throughout the property. Finished in 'Pebble Grey' externally and 'Pure White' internally, they offer the perfect balance between heritage charm and contemporary styling, seamlessly connecting the new façade with the traditional features at the rear.
Front Entrance Door
A Lulworth-style Entrance door with a toplight provides a refined and welcoming focal point at the front of the home. Its timeless design is elevated with black hardware, tying into the property's updated exterior.
Stable Door
As the entrance to the new utility room, a Stable door was chosen for its character and country charm, adding yet another thoughtful detail to this beautifully renovated family home.
