1970s Home Reimagined with Classic Timber Styling
Key to this transformation was the replacement of the original windows and doors, an upgrade Ms Bissell felt strongly about from the start.

"After visiting my local builder’s merchant and seeing the products first-hand, I knew Mumford & Wood was exactly what I wanted for my home."
The Project
In a renovation project that spanned four years, homeowner Ms Bissell has transformed her 1970s Essex property into a beautiful and characterful home, complete with a contemporary extension and thoughtfully selected materials throughout.
Key to this transformation was the replacement of the original windows and doors, an upgrade Ms Bissell felt strongly about from the start.
"I've never liked UPVC windows," she says. "And when I saw the Mumford & Wood range at my local builder's merchant, I was instantly sold. The quality and design stood out immediately."
The project involved extensive external updates, including full re-cladding and a rear extension that opens out onto a generous patio and garden. It was here that Mumford & Wood's timber French doors came into their own, creating a seamless link between indoor and outdoor living.
Now fully complete, the property reflects Ms Bissell's vision - a home full of charm, functionality, and timeless design.
French Doors
Three sets of timber French doors were installed at the rear of the home, finished in classic 'Pure White' and complemented with polished chrome hardware. This clean, elegant combination enhances the garden-facing rooms and elevates the exterior appearance.
Entrance Door
To serve the utility room Entrance, a 'Wigmore' style door was selected and finished to match the French doors for a unified look. The result is a stylish yet practical solution that blends effortlessly with the home's updated exterior.
